NYC Irish Arts Center Residency

NYC Irish Arts Center Residency

Colm will hold a week long residency at NYC’s Irish Arts Center in May. Joining him will be fellow Irish musicians Utsav Lal & Loah. Performances happen May 30, 31 & June 1. Tickets can be purchased here.

Three pacesetters of contemporary Irish music come together to explore the fierce possibilities of collaboration: Colm Mac Con Iomaire, the acclaimed solo innovator and founding violinist of the Frames; Loah, the Afro-soul star who’s headlined Electric Picnic and SXSW; and Utsav Lal, the prodigious 26-year-old pianist whose raga-inflected trad has earned him marquee billing at Dublin’s National Concert Hall. First united as a trio at our 2018 Spirit of Ireland Gala, over a week-long residency the artists will continue to shape the rhythms and textures of their unique styles into a startlingly revelatory sound, culminating in a three-night series of public performances.

Oscar Nomination for Late Afternoon

I was so pleased to be a part of the telling of this wonderful story Late Afternoon – It has been winning prizes and moving audiences at film festivals around the world this past year and has now been shortlisted in the category of the Best Animated Short in the forthcoming Academy Awards (Oscars).. The film reminds us that a world of ‘pure imagination’ is alive in all of us!

How Do You Say It?

Curious how Colm’s surname is pronounced? The phonetic spelling is Mack-Kun-Ummra.
